Teri Hatcher’s mother Esther was a computer programmer who worked for Lockheed Martin while her father Owen W. Hatcher was a nuclear physicist and electrical engineer. It was recently revealed, that unknown to her parents, she suffered sexual abuse from an uncle by marriage, since she was five years old. She later assisted the prosecutors with the indictment of Stone. She attended the Mango Junior High that has now become Sunnyvale Middle School. She then completed her schooling at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and moved on to attend the De Anza College in Cupertino. She then studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater while at the same time pursuing an undergraduate degree in mathematics and engineering. Though she intended to go to California Polytechnic Institute, fate had other plans for her and she ended up in Hollywood. Hatcher married Marcus Leithold, in June 1988 only to divorce him a year later in June 1989. Five years later, in May 1994 she married actor Jon Tenney and the couple were blesses with a daughter in November 1997. However the marriage ended six years later when the two divorced in March 2003. Hatcher is currently single and spends most of her time with her daughter or working on her various projects
Teri first appeared on television in very insignificant roles. Her first major break came in 1993 when she was cast as Lois Lane opposite Dean Cain in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She later also got to write for an episode of the show. Teri has acted in more than two dozen television shows and fifteen movies. On television she has appeared in shows like The Love Boat, Capitol, Star Trek: The Next Generation, MacGyver, Sunday Dinner, Seinfeld and Momentum etc., and can be currently seen as Susan Mayer on Desperate Housewives. She has also acted in the movies The Big Picture, Straight Talk, Heaven’s Prisoners, Tomorrow Never Dies, Spy Kids, A Touch of Fate and Coraline etc. She has also appeared as herself on numerous shows which include Saturday Night Live, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The View, Late Show with David Letterman and Entertainment Tonight etc. Teri has been nominated for 12 different awards including one Golden Globe and one Emmy Award. In addition she has also won five other awards which include a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy, for her role in Desperate Housewives in 2005.

In Desperate Housewives, she plays the role of Susan Mayer. She is one of the four friends living in the suburban neighborhood of Wisteria Lane, around whom the story of the series revolves. She comes across as a clumsy, foolish, inept and accident-prone woman. She has and on off relationship with her ex-husband Karl and current boyfriend Mike, both of whom are also in the eyes of her rival/friend Edie. As of season five, she is having a secret affair with her painter and decorator Jackson Braddock.
