Brenda Strong is an American actress who is a certified yoga instructor and fertility expert. She attended the Sandy High School in Sandy and left home to study at the Arizona State University from where she graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Music in musical theatre. She moved to Los Angeles, soon after completing her college and started taking up small roles in movies and on television. Brenda married Tom Henri in July 1989 and the couple has a son named John Henri. Brenda has also taught at UCLA's Mind/Body Institute and is currently working on her first book that describes a woman’s journey and the impact of yoga on it.

Brenda’s first break was in 1984, when she appeared in Billy Crystal’s music video You Look Marvelous. Since then she has worked in about 68 television shows and 24 movies. On television she has appeared in shows like Shadow Chasers, Dallas, Matlock, Twin Peaks, Party of Five, 3rd Rock From the Sun, Sports Night, 7th Heaven, Malcolm in the Middle, The Help, Everwood and Boston Legal etc. She currently acts as the narrator, Mary Alice Young in the series Desperate Housewives. She has also acted in movies like Starship Troopers, Undercurrent, Red Dragon, Exposed, The Kid & I, The Work and the Glory III: A House Divided, The Plum Summer, You and Privileged etc., with the last two currently under post production. She has also appeared as herself in shows like, Weakest Link, Good Morning America, KTLA Morning News, The Megan Mullally Show, Entertainment Tonight and TV Land Confidential etc. She has been nominated for three different awards and in addition has also won two other awards.

In Desperate Housewives, she plays the role of the narrator Mary Alice Young. She is the most mysterious of the housewives who committed suicide at the very start of the series and left behind her husband Paul and troubled son Zach and hundreds of unanswered questions for her friends and neighbors. Since her death, Mary has been narrating the series from beyond her grave; giving an insight into the seemingly calm and sweet lives of the housewives, each of whom is trying to hide something from the others.
